Exposing the Cruelty of Greyhound Racing

Exposing the Cruelty of Greyhound Racing

About the Campaign

Greyhound Racing Kills is established to provide an introduction to the underbelly of greyhound racing and how it fails to properly regulate itself resulting in the poor welfare of dogs. Including:

> Living conditions of greyhounds that are inspected and passed by the Greyhound Board with approval of an RCVS Vet.

> Injuries, abandonment and neglect of dogs with some resulting in death.

> Evidence we gathered relating to the cruel exports of greyhounds for breeding and racing purposes.

> Cases involving the doping of greyhounds and more.

Who We Are

Caged Nationwide was founded in 2012 after the most active campaign group of it's time, Greyhound Action had just ceased to operate. There were approximately 28 licensed race tracks open in the UK, and 5 unlicensed at this time.

Today our vision remains the same as in 2012; that is to influence the closure of each race track by encouraging peaceful activism and guiding the public away from greyhound racing and gambling. We have since waved goodbye to 14 UK greyhound racing stadiums, 9 licensed and 5 unlicensed.

What We Do

We expose greyhound racing cruelty and it's perpetrators wherever possible. We explain the many flaws in the racing rules and regulations to remind people of the suffering attached to greyhound racing. In the process we show evidence that the Animal Welfare Act is not enforced. >>Read More

Why We Do It

Apart from our love for the dogs; British greyhound racing is dependent on the gambling industry. The dogs are used as betting products and the races are backed by public money via betting and attendances at race tracks. Surviving greyhounds who become surplus to the industries needs are turfed out to rescue groups.

Whilst a small contribution is made to 'some chosen' greyhound rescue groups by the racing and gambling industry, it proves to be insufficient enough to cover all costs incurred by these groups as they continue to appeal for public funding.

There are independent rescue groups who receive no funding from the racing and gambling industry, either because they are denied it, or choose not to accept it due to their own views on greyhound racing.

Public Interest

As greyhound racing relies on public money to exist; we believe it is in the public interest that we broadcast our findings to offer complete transparency and allow individuals to form their own perspective of greyhound racing before making any financial contributions.

Campaigns & Lobbying

Caged Nationwide (our parent organisation) is the largest greyhound protection group in the UK. Our main aim is to raise mass awareness about the plight of greyhounds within the racing industry. Visit the Caged website to see all of our outdoor campaigns funded by public donations.
